Assistance for the Virginia Tech Guest Wireless Network
The Virginia Tech guest wireless service is intended as a convenience
for university guests to quickly and easily access the internet
SMS Problems
The self registration service requires that your Guest Wireless
password be sent to you via text message (SMS) on your mobile device.
Virginia Tech is well known for its picturesque Hokie stone buildings.
Unfortunately Hokie stone can impact cellular coverage within
buildings and you may not receive the SMS with your password.
Usually, moving closer to windows or going outside the building to
improve your signal will allow the text message to be delivered.
If you still do not receive the text message, you have the following
options:
On the receipt webpage, request the credentials be sent via email.
This option assumes that you have cellular data coverage.
Obtain assistance from the department that you are visiting, if
applicable.
